Wearing of facemasks now mandatory in public places in Anambra says Government

Aguleri (Anambra East LGA), April 23, 2020 (MOI) Anambra State Government has announced that wearing of facemasks is now mandatory by all citizens in public.
``This is one of the veritable measures aimed curtailing the spread of COVID-19. Henceforth anyone who is seen outside his home without a facemask shall be guilty of breaking the Anambra State Protocol on Covid-19.’’
Gov. Willie Obiano said this during his 4th broadcast to people of the state, to regularly update them on status of the pandemic in the state.
During the broadcast the governor urged the Traditional rulers, Religious Leaders, President’s-Generals, Women Leaders, Market Association Leaders, Youth Association Leaders and every community leader to ensure proper enforcement of the order.
He cautioned the public not to use polyester and polythene in making facemasks and mandated transport operators, banks and other businesses to join in the effort at enforcing the use of facemasks as a pre-condition for service.
``We also encourage our people to maintain the globally accepted COVID-19 protocol of regular hand-washing, regular use of hand sanitisers and social distancing rules that I have repeatedly communicated in my previous addresses.
``Ndi Anambra are advised to contact the Anambra State Public Health Emergency Operation Centre immediately (PHEOC) they feel unwell.’’
