WAI Brigade commences monitoring of COVID-19 compliance in Ekwusigo

Ozubulu (Ekwusigo LGA), July 7, 2020 (MOI) A civil enforcement body popularly known as War Against Indiscipline (WAI) has commenced monitoring of COVID-19 compliance measures in Ekwusigo Local Government Area (LGA).
Brigade Commander of Ekwusigo WAI, Mr Francis Onyeama noted that the brigade was empowered by the state commander to collaborate with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to enforce discipline in certain aspects of civil society.
The troop stormed Ekwusigo LGA Secretariat to ensure that the COVID-19 pandemic rules were applied.
Mr Onyema said that their reason was to ensure that everyone complied with the COVID-19 pandemic measure outlined by the Government.
He stressed that defaulters would be sanctioned accordingly.
The commander pointed out that his troop would go round the entire LGA to supervise compliance in Churches, burial ceremonies, Markets and weddings to ensure that people abided by the COVID-19 protocols.
Mr Prince Onyekachukwu, Secretary, WAI brigade said they started work on July 6, noting that they were empowered to ensure that government rules were carried to the letter in a bid to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
``Anybody who does not wear his or her face masks properly will not be allowed entry in the secretariat or be part of any social function.’’
He assured them that they would carry out thorough supervision in the area while pleading with the state government to come to their aid as they were using their money to carry out activities in the area. (MOI)
