Nnewi, March 13, 2018 -- The 2018 set of medical graduates of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, numbering 40, have been inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

The induction was the 43rd ceremony of the university, held at the Metu Uzodike Auditorium, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, in an address of welcome, congratulated the graduates for their hard work to have survived the rigorous professional examinations.

The V-C, who was represented by DVC Academic, Prof. Charles Esimone, urged the graduates to go into the medical profession in the spirit of the oath they had taken, strengthened by sound training they received in character and in learning from the university.

He added that with the 43rd induction ceremony, the university had so far produced a total of 2,104 medical doctors since 1995.

The Provost, Prof. A.M.E Nwafor, noted that since the graduates acquired good knowledge through strict instructions in both learning and character, they should step into the profession, bearing in mind that their work require lots of sacrifices and love for humanity.

The Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Gerald Udigwe, extolled the efforts and sacrifices of the staff and management of the university toward training quality medical doctors.

Prof. Udigwe said that they had received the best possible training they would need to conquer the world, urging them to give all they learnt toward the health benefit of mankind.

Earlier in his opening remark, the Chief Medical Director of NAUTH, Prof. Anthony Igwuegbe, congratulated the graduating students, their parents and guardians for completing the journey which he noted, had not been easy.

He urged the fresh doctors to go out and be worthy representatives of their Alma-mater.

The ceremony, attracted friends, well-wishers, parents and relations of the graduates as well as many of other dignitaries from within and outside the university.
