SUSPECTED CULTISTS ATTACK VIGILANCE GROUP IN IHIALA

Ihiala, Nov. 8, 2018 (MOI) Some suspected cultists have allegedly attacked members of a Vigilance Group at their duty post at Umuadobihi Village in Ihiala, Anambra State.
The commander of the vigilance group, who did not want to be identified, said the alleged cultists, who attacked them during the early hours of the day took them unawares.
When alerted, the Ihiala Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Kachi Ugwu and his team went to the scene of the event and picked up some of the empty cartridges that were fired by the suspected cultists.
Meanwhile, before the attack that early morning, a combined team of security agencies including Ihiala Police Division arrested some suspected cultists in the town, whose names were sent from state Police Headquarters.
The operation, which was led by the Ihiala DPO nabbed some of the listed suspects.
When some journalists visited the Ihiala Police
Station, the DPO confirmed the attack on Umuadobihi Vigilance Group and the
arrest of some of the listed suspects.
The DPO said a signal came from the headquarters, with a list of the suspected cultists, who terrorised the town; ``the tip off helped me and my team to arrest the suspects’’.
The arrested suspects were later handed over to the Special Anti Cult Squad from Enugu-Ukwu, who took them to away to their base for further investigation.
