SOUTH EAST TRADITIONAL RULERS COMMEND GOV OBIANO FOR SALLY'S APPOINTMENT

Awka, May 17, 2018 (MOI) South East Traditional Rulers have commended Gov. Willie Obiano for appointing Mrs Sally Mbanefo as Commissioner for Indigenous Artworks, Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism.
Traditional Rulers from Imo, Abia, Enugu and Anambra made the commendation when they paid courtesy visit to the commissioner in her office at Awka.
The Traditional Ruler of Omogho, Igwe R N Offor, who led the delegation, praised the governor for bringing home `OLAMMA Ndi Igbo’.
He said: ‘Olamma’ title was bestowed on the commissioner in 2016 at the National Iri ji festival in Igboukwu, when she was the Director-General, National Tourism Development Cooperation (NTDC).
Igwe Ofor said the aim of the visit was to keep the state government abreast of preparation for the 2018 National iri ji festival and to welcome the new commissioner.
``The National Iri ji Festival is an avenue for showcasing and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Ndi Igbo, which is more visible in Anambra than in any other state of the country.
``I commend the Anambra Governor for his past support at previous festivals,’’ Igwe Offor said.
Mbanefo said that her appointment was to serve Ndi Anambra and help the governor to make the state more attractive for investors.
``Anambra and indeed the Southeast have rich cultural history that should be showcased at all times,’’ she said.
She urged the traditional rulers to use their good offices to promote Igbo Language which is the hallmark of our culture.
The commissioner assured
them of the state government’s readiness to promote and support the showcasing
of our rich cultural heritage. (MOI)
