SENIOR CITIZENS COMMEND OBIANO'S STYLE OF GOVERNANCE
By David Okpala/Stella Ifeoma Okpala :
Ekwulobia (Aguata LGA), Dec. 3, 2019 (MOI) Anambra State retirees have commended Gov. Willie Obiano's style of governance as they take home a bag of rice each for Christmas.
They made the commendation at Aguata Local Government Premises, on Dec. 2, while standing in queues to receive gift of rice to make their Christmas celebration worthwhile.
According to Mrs Harriet Okeke, who retired from Community Secondary School Uga, ``Obiano is a Governor that has done well in every department of governance.
``Although, I have special regard on his performance in Education. I know what it was when I was still in active service.
``Once, there was strike that lasted as long as 11 months. But since Obiano took the mantle of leadership of Anambra State, we have never witnessed teachers’ strike.
``This is because he gives to teachers what is due to them at the appropriate time,’’ she said.
``I as a retiree, has never failed to receive my pension as and when due.
``Gov. Obiano's style of governance is peaceful. Why will it not be, when elders like us are praying for his success.
``As school calendar is not distorted, school children graduate in record time. They are happy. That alone has reduced negative vices like stealing, political thuggery and teenage pregnancy.
``But for Constitutional provision limiting the tenure of governors, I could have suggested that Obiano should continue in office beyond 2021,’’ Harriet added.
Mr Mathew Emezie, retiree from Christ The Redeem College, Amesi, while interacting with Information Officers said, ``Obiano is 2nd to none in his performance in governance.
``I am not saying it because I have come to collect rice due to me as a retiree in the state but because we are enjoying relative peace in Anambra State.
``I listen to news from some other states; from what I hear, I can measure security status and in my estimation, Anambra State is standing tall in the committee of states in Nigeria.
``His performance is more understandable, especially where it concerns security and peaceful coexistence,’’ he reiterated.
``Senior citizens are happy with Gov. Obiano and
he will live to be old.’’ (MOI)
