Reconstruct perimeter fencing of School of Nursing, Midwifery, Nkpor Assembly urges

Awka, May 21, 2020 (MOI) Anambra State House of Assembly has appealed to the state government to reconstruct the perimeter fencing of School of Nursing and Midwifery, Nkpor.
This is to help to improve security within the institution.
The House reached the decision following a motion sponsored by Mr Carter Umeh, member representing Aguata 1 constituency during plenary on May 19.
Speaker, Mr Uche Okafor noted that safety and security of life and property of citizens were the duty of government.
``Safety and security represent a stable income and usage; a good learning environment, protection from crime and freedom of movement.
``We appreciate that the Government is doing its best in terms of securing life and property, which makes Anambra the safest state in the country.’’
Mr Okafor presided during plenary and read out the resolution, while the lawmakers unanimously adopted it through voice votes.
Mr Umeh said that the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Nkpor was a health institution under the Ministry of Health.
Security of lives within the institution was paramount, being an institution populated mainly by females.
``I am distressed that these fallen perimeter fencing are the route through which hoodlums gain access into the institution, thereby granting rights to stealing and carting away the students’ belongings.
``If the fencing is not reconstructed urgently, the rate of crimes, such as molestation against students, especially the female ones can rise to unbearable levels.
Supporting the motion, Mr Ejike Okechukwu, member representing Anaocha 1 constituency said the institution was a place of learning that require conducive environment. (MOI)
