PUBLIC AFFAIRS ANALYST CALLS FOR AGGRESSIVE TREE PLANTING
By Michael Ezenwata
Awka, April 13, 2018 -- A public Affairs analyst Sir George Ezenwa says afforestation remains a sine qua non towards improving the society’s ecosystem.
Sir George who gave the indication while speaking on the dangers of deforestation, decried the gradual disappearance of vegetable fruits such as coco yam and pumpkins and the lukewarm attitude to subsistence farming.
He called for a government policy making it mandatory for the yearly planting of trees by every family for the enrichment of the environment, stressing that for some countries, felling of trees cannot be approved without replacing them.
Sir George suggested that Gov. Willie Obiano’s administration should augment its afforestation policy to checkmate incidence of erosion and other environmental benefits.
He further advocated government’s creation of stimulus which may come in the way of educating the masses to encourage subsistence farming.
