PARENTS URGED TO INVEST HEAVILY ON EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN
By Nwachukwu Juliana
Onitsha, May 17, 2018 (MOI) Dr Daniel Ogah, a medical doctor, has urged parents to invest their resources, especially time, energy and money on their children for positive results in future.
Dr Ogah said this at the 2018 Career Day, held at Bethlehem Secondary School for SS1 Students of the School.
He criticised businessmen, especially in the commercial city of Onitsha, who consider erection of high-rise buildings more important than investing in education of their children and wards.
``You must desist from such misplacement of priorities,’’ Ogah admonished.
``’Uneducated children will focus on their parents’ wealth, instead of striving to be financially independent; whatsoever one sows, that is what he will reap.’’
The Vice-Principal (Academic), Mrs Osuchukwu, advised the students to choose their careers based on their passion, zeal and desire for that particular career, not because their friends are doing it, in order to excel in their chosen career.
The School Manager, Rev. Fr. Mike Okagbue, noted that some students find it difficult to choose their careers saying that God equipped everyone with a particular talent with which to excel in life.
He enjoined the students to choose careers for which they had aptitude and inclination.
Rev. Fr. Mike Okagbue
cautioned parents to desist from choosing careers for their children in order
that the children would not become incompetent in such imposed careers. (MOI)
