ORUMBA NORTH LG: ANAMBRA JOURNALIST ASSUMES OFFICE AS FIRST FEMALE BOSS

It was an epoch making event at Ajalli, Headquarters of Orumba North Local Government Area as veteran journalist, Ifeyinwa Obinabo officially assumed office as Transition Committee Chairman.
Mrs Obinabo, a newscaster in the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) was sworn in as the LG boss on Sept. 6, at Governor's Lodge, Amawbia.
Before her current appointment, she was Special Assistant to Governor on Agriculture, a position she held for a year and some months.
The former Transition Committee Chairman, Emeka Aforka had emphasised that during his tenure he initiated and completed many life-touching and people-oriented projects, in spite of meagre resources at his disposal in the council.
Mr Aforka x-rayed some committees during his tenure that contributed to tremendous successes he recorded.
Some of the committees include the one for Celebration of Orumba North at 27, Opinion Moulders and Think Tank Committee, Cattle Herdsmen/Farmers Menace and Orumba North Council of Elders.
The former council boss commended Gov. Willie Obiano for finding him worthy to serve in his government.
He extolled the members of the council for maximum collaboration he enjoyed while in office.
He, however, urged the people of Orumba North to extend such unending peaceful romance to the newly appointed chairman, to enable her to consolidate on the achievements he recorded.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs Obinabo said the appointment was in tandem with her burning desire to serve her people, especially at the grassroots.
Obinabo, first female LG chairman in the council commended Aforka for his unprecedented records, which she described as beyond imagination.
She promised to intensify every efforts geared toward promoting the comfort of members of the council across political line and to sustain the tempo of development recorded by her predecessors.
The Head of Administration, Orumba North Council, Mr Chike Obiekwe congratulated the newly appointed boss and promised the cooperation of the staff.
