OMEP PARTNERS ON EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS

Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Mr Patrick Ugbaya, says the administration of Gov. Willie Obiano is passionate about early childhood education in rural and urban areas of the state.
He said this while declaring open a one day conference on early childhood education.
The state was already in partnership with the World Organisation for Early Childhood Education (OMEP) Nigeria.
Ugbaya explained the event was aimed at promoting early childhood education (0-8 years).
He expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between OMEP Nigeria and the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners in organising the workshop.
He said that the Governor had mandated the board to work toward ensuring that his vision of promoting early childhood education would be implemented in most rural areas of the state.
In her remarks, the Vice-President OMEP Nigeria, Mrs Mandlyn Udeze, tasked the teachers on creating a learner-friendly classroom environment that encouraged children to attend classes.
She, then, urged them to continuously develop themselves, so that their impact would be felt.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Planning, Mr Leo Imoka said the team from the Ministry was satisfied with the instructional materials for the workshop and urged the participants to utilize the opportunity, so they could in turn impact same into their pupils.
Mrs Eugenia Essell, in a presentation of 21st century classroom management admonished the teachers to teach their pupils values; ``as teachers, we should teach children about values, including punctuality and infuse positive attitude into them’’.
