NYSC PERMANENT SITE IN ANAMBRA TO BE COMPLETED IN 3 MONTHS – ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT

Amawbia (Awka South LGA), Aug. 10, 2018 (MOI) Gov. Willie Obiano has given an assurance that the permanent site of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) in Anambra State will be completed over the next three months.
``The fencing of the complex at Umuawulu-Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area (LGA) is already in progress and will be followed by landscaping and beautification of the structure,’’ Gov. Obiano said.
He said this at Governor's Lodge Amawbia, shortly after meeting with members of the National Governing Board of NYSC, led by its Chairman, Amb. Fatima Bala Abubakar.
The governor added that he had an emotional attachment to the Corps and would continue to make contributions toward its progress through the empowerment of members, who were exceptional during their service year.
Obiano directed that `a beautiful hall’ be provided for the Corps at the Secretariat at Amawbia.
He announced that a parcel of land had been approved for their entrepreneurship programme in agricultural production.
Chairman of the board, Abubakar noted that the team was in Anambra State as part of their oversight function, especially to inspect facilities in NYSC Orientation Camp.
She commended the governor for his efforts at improving the welfare of corps members posted to Anambra.
The chairman appealed to the Governor to help in making the permanent site of Corps in the state to be functional.
Commissioner for Youths and Creative Economy, Mr Bonaventure Enemali assured the Board that the permanent camp when ready would be the best in the country.
Azikiwe University Awka, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku commended the Governor’s effort
in providing them security that enhanced the success of the visit to the state.
