By John Ndu/Sunday Okoli
Nteje (Oyi LGA), Feb. 8, 2019 (MOI) Gov. Willie Obiano has expressed satisfaction at the standard of work at the Nengo Bridge, Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area (LGA).
The bridge which traverses Umunya and other communities was opened for commuters during Christmas season, to ensure free flow of vehicular movement.
The bridge serves as an alternative route because of the dilapidated condition of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.
Gov. Obiano while inspecting the road observed the bridge was barricaded and asphalting work was ongoing.
He listed the economic benefits of the road to include convenience of communities to be able to evacuate farm produce.
The Governor noted the road was designed to accommodate modern facilities, including reflective lighting and other road signs.
Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor said the bridge, which is 36 metres in length would be completely asphalted over the next one week.
The Contractor, Mr Tony Tamad, noted that the bridge was temporarily closed for 4 days to enable them to complete asphalting as designed.
He assured of the delivery of the road within a week.
The Traditional ruler of
Nteje, Igwe Rowland Odegbo, while commending Gov. Obiano for his intervention
on roads, assured him of their support, especially in the General Elections.
