Dunukofia, Jan. 9, 2018 -- The  Eze Enugwu-Ukwu na Igwe Umunri, Igwe Ralph Obumneme Ekpeh, Okpalanakana Ukabia Nri 1V has predicted that 2018 will be brighter year for his community.

Igwe Ononamkpume Agu made the pronouncement at Obu Umunri, Enugwu-Ukwu during his 7th Igu Aro as Monarch of Enugwu-Ukwu.

The Igu Aro, which was celebrated on Jan. 6, was the 60th Igu Aro of Enugwu-Ukwu Community.

In his message, Igwe recalled that Enugwu-Ukwu recorded a lot of deaths of its prominent indigenes in 2016 but 2017 was better. 

He said that 2018 Lunar Calendar has shown progress, fertility and abundance of farm produce for the people. 

The festival featured conferment of Chieftaincy title to Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke, who was honoured as Chief Ezuo 11 Enugwu-Ukwu n’ Umunri.

The title `Ezuo’ was chosen after his late father, Chief R. N. Okeke Ezuo 1 Enugwu-Ukwu n’ Umunri.

Other prominent personalities honoured with Chieftaincy title are Ozonkpu Sylvester Onwudinjo (Chief Akajiaku 11), P. J. C. Nwokafor (Chief Enyi), Oba Theodore Onyi Omalu (Chief Uwachinaka).

Others are Ozonkpu Osita Ekpe (Chief Alupuoaku), Sen. Ben Ndii Obi.

The 2018 Igu Aro  was graced by prominent politicians like Chief Victor Umeh  (Ekwueme, Enugwu-Ukwu n’ Umunri), Deputy of Governors of Enugu and Ebonyi, National Chairman of APGA, Ozonkpu Victor Ike-Oye, Former National Secretary of APGA, Alhaji Shinkafi and Monarchs from various Communities in Anambra.

Side attractions that featured during the festival are the different Cultural Dance Groups, Masquerades of different capacities and MTN Riffle Draw.
