Transition Committee Chairman, Anambra West LGA, Mr Tony Collins Nwabunwanne
said this when he spoke with some women in the community, protesting invasion
and destruction of their farmlands by herdsmen.
The TC chairman expressed shock at the rumour, stating that government couldn't have given such ridiculous order.
``I was shocked when I got the information; but Let me make it categorically clear that government is not aware and could not have signed such a ridiculous and anti-people pact with Fulani herdsmen.
``Our people should not listen to those rumours peddlers who want to tarnish the good image of the present administration under Gov. Willie Obiano,’’ Nwabunwanne said.
The LG boss, then, re-assured the women that government was on top of the situation, saying, the ``herdsmen will leave the community within the next 24 hours after due consultations’’.
He also assured them of compensation for damages and losses incurred.
