HEALTH COMMITTEE COMMENDS GOVERNMENT FOR INSTALLING OXYGEN PRODUCTION PLANT

Awka, Aug. 23, 2019 (MOI) Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Health has commended Government of Anambra for setting up an oxygen production plant at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka.
``This will help to guarantee adequate healthcare services for the people of the state,’’ the committee said.
They committee also lauded government for establishing the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme that would enable Ndi Anambra to access quality and affordable Medicare in the state.
Chairman of the Committee, Mr Carter Umeh representing Aguata 1 made the commendation when he led members on a familiarisation tour of the hospital.
The committee, however, expressed a desire to partner with the Gov Willie Obiano led-administration in providing adequate healthcare services to Ndi Anambra.
Mr Umeh explained that the tour would enable them to identify teething problems facing the hospital.
``This will enable the committee to proffer solutions, so that it can attain world-class status,’’ he said.
Mr Obinna Emeneka (APGA-Anambra East) added that the visit was also to awaken the consciousness of staff toward rendering quality services to the people at all times, especially in emergency situations.
Responding, Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Basil Nwankwo educated the lawmakers on present state of the facility.
Dr Nwankwo said a lot of progress had been made by in the hospital over the past 20 months that he started piloting its affairs.
``The hospital has done exceedingly well in diagnostics with about N2 billion invested by state Government,’’ he noted.
The chief medical
director, then, expressed the need for Anambra Economic Think Tank (ANETT)
currently handling issues of appropriate placement, promotions and take home
packages for workers in the hospital to expedite action. (MOI)
