GOVERNMENT URGES LG SERVICE COMMISSION TO CHECK STAFF REDUNDANCY

Awka, Sept. 10, 2019 (MOI) Anambra State Government inaugurated a reconstituted Local Government Service Commission, urging it to check staff redundancy from within the service.
The inauguration was held at the Governor's lodge, Amawbia and Mr Peter Egenti retained as its Chairman.
Other members are Mrs Uju Okeke, Mr Augustine Anyaeji, Mr Ugochukwu Ezeani and Mrs Roselyn Ifezulike.
Gov. Willie Obiano, while performing the function re-emphasized that their constitutional responsibility include appointment, promotion, recruitment, discipline and transfer of staff on salary level 07 and above.
The Governor noted that part of their job include responding to manpower needs, planning, development and training of the local government staff members, training and retraining.
Others are maintenance of comprehensive list and up-to-date nominal roles as well as seniority list of LG staff in the state.
Gov. Obiano, then, enjoined them to be cooperative in the ongoing staff auditing as well as set the interest of the state above their selfish interest.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu noted that the commission was one of the statutory bodies recognised by the country’s Constitution.
According to him, its vital role is to regulate welfare and activities of staff members.
In a remark Chairman of
the Commission, Mr Egenti praised the state government for re-appointing him,
promising that they would perform their duties diligently. (MOI)
