Government sets to tackle challenges of state-owned transport company, TRACAS

Awka, July 12, 2020 (MOI) Commissioner for Transport Mr Afam Mbanefo says the State Government is ready to tackle challenges facing the Transport Company of Anambra State (TRACAS).
Mr Mbanefo explained that part of his mandate was to reform TRACAS and make it to meet with international standards in public transportation in the country.
He said this during his meeting with the management of TRACAS at the Conference Hall of the Ministry, Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
He called for a detailed presentation of the company’s activities to enable the government to analyse whatever challenges the company had been facing.
He also said that a committee would be constituted by the ministry to ensure due process, mutual communication and transparency in the administration of TRACAS.
Managing Director, TRACAS, Dr Ifeoma Madukasi highlighted areas of difficulties facing the company, which included payment of salaries, management crisis and tussle with private commercial vehicle operators.
In attendance include Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Nkiru Okonkwo and Heads of Departments from TRACAS as well as government officials. (MOI)
