Awka, Feb. 14, 2020 (MOI) Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism is partnering with Innoson Manufacturing Company and Viko Nigeria to support hotel owners to boost the tourism sector.

The Commissioner, Mrs Sally Mbanefo said this during a meeting with hoteliers at the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Conference Hall, Government House, Awka.

Mrs Mbanefo said that the partnership would help to create Tourism Information Desk at various state airports that serve as gateway to Anambra in a bid to guide tourists coming to the state.

``There are not less than 500 hotels in Anambra that we have registered digitally. These tourism packages we are introducing to them will boost their businesses and generate more revenue to the state.

``The tourism package is an e-commerce transaction, where hoteliers can carry out online transactions for their customers through Customer Service Subvention Fund given to them by Viko Nigeria.

``Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra has approved the training of 5,000 youths in the state on the programme to enable them to queue into the platform with their android phones and do business.

``We are also collaborating with IVM to provide 100 vehicles for the hoteliers on lease finance.’’

Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Creative Economy, Mr Afam Mbanefo said that youths at various Local Government Areas were also undergoing training for the programme.

``We want to make our youths valuable and employers of labour,’’ he said.

Special Adviser to Governor on Disability Matters, Mr Chukwuma Ezewuzie told the hoteliers to design their hotels to be disability friendly.

``Have a ram for wheelchairs and other facilities that will allow the physically challenged easy access into your hotel without much support.’’

Earlier, the Ministry’s Consultant and Chief Executive Officer, Viko Nigeria, Mr Kanu Chidi, said that the tourism packages would attract more investors from The Diaspora to the state.

Vehicles from Innoson for hotel transport services were unveiled at the venue of the meeting. (MOI)
