Government inspects Awka Millennium City Estate, hail pace of job execution
By Adaobi Nsofor :
Awka, June 29, 2020 (MOI) Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke has undertaken an official inspection tour of Awka Millennium City Estate.
The deputy Governor explained that he undertook the tour to ascertain the level of seriousness that had gone into the project, located at Agu, Awka.
He expressed satisfaction at the progress made so far, saying that it was one of the major signature projects being executed by the state.
Dr Okeke said that the job was being done professionally well and up to standard but that the rains had made it difficult to access some of the areas that he needed to inspect.
``Developers in the state need to come here and see for themselves as government has done its part; it is left for the company to show capacity and continue to the hard work.
``Once work is completed, Ndi Anambra will be able to access and own plots of land here.
``I believe the project is in the process; it will continue even after our current administration but the fact remains that Obiano has set the standards,’’ Dr Okeke stressed.
Managing Director, Anambra State Investment, Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Mr Jide Ikeakor explained that the Millennium City project came under ANSIPPA in collaboration with the State Government and Maintenance Passive Infrastructure (MPI).
Mr Ikeakor noted that Public Private Partnership (PPP) model would be used to expedite the development of the real residential and industrials estates in the state.
He added that the estate covered not less than100 hectares of land, being phased in 25 hectares.
``People have started acquiring and we are still expecting more expression of interest by prospective buyers. The quality and standard is what people need to come and see for themselves,’’ Mr Ikeakor said.
He praised the relentless effort at making Anambra one of the greatest states in the country. (MOI)
