FORMER NMA BOSS WARNS AGAINST UNHEALTHY ENVIRONMENT

A former Awka zonal chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association Dr. Oliver Onwughalu has called for the maintenance of a clean and healthy environment for the promotion of good health.
Dr. Onwughalu, who spoke to the press at Enugu-ukwu on the dangers of Lassa fever, suggested the clearing of bushes, proper disposal of waste items and keeping the homes rodent free.
“People are expected to guard against leaving their foods open for rats defecation and urine infection,” Onwughalu advised.
He urged fellow doctors and nurses working in various hospitals to be cautious in handling all illness so as not be infected.
He further enjoined his colleagues to always be on the look out for patients with cases of bleeding from all opening of the body such as eyes, ears, mouth, reproductive and excretory organs.
Dr. Onwughalu advised the citizenry to always be conscious of their health and to submit themselves for medical examination when ill rather than indulging themselves in self medication.
