EXPLORE MANUFACTURING, CREATION OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT URGES

Awka, Nov. 28, 2019 (MOI) Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra has urged Ndi Anambra to explore opportunities associated with establishing manufacturing industries to create businesses that will absorb youths seeking employment.
The Governor said this during official inauguration ceremonies for the Extension of Building Material’s International Market.
The ceremony, which took place at the premises of the market, had state government officials, business moguls, traditional rulers and foreigners in attendance.
``Anambra is known for trade and commerce,’’ Gov. Obiano stressed, adding that conducive business-friendly environment had been provided to attract investors.
``Anambra is ripe for investment, come and partner with the state,’’ Obiano appealed.
He, then, thanked those behind the Building Materials International Market, Ogidi and their executive for efforts put into building the market of such huge capacity.
The Governor cautioned against street trading in the state, stressing it was one of the major causes of road accidents. ``We want an organised society’’.
He was represented at the event by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke.
Mr Uchenna Okafor, the State’s Commissioner for Trade and Commerce noted that security was paramount addition in achieving social stability.
While commending the commitment of Gov. Obiano 'Operation Zero Tolerance to Crime' in Anambra State, he had channelled his energy toward ensuring security stability in the state.
According to him, the Southeast region has continued to enjoy comparative advantage in trade and commerce since the end of the civil war.
Okafor, then praised the traders for their commitment in building the new extension, particularly President-General and his executive for quality representation and leadership.
``A market of this magnitude will help to bring prosperity and development to the state,’’ the commissioner added.
Earlier, President-General, Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), Mr Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu commended the peaceful existence witnessed in building materials market Ogidi.
According to him this has brought in progress as well.
