Commissioner extols chairman Electrical Association, inaugurates new committee
By Rita Okonkwo :
Awka, July 31, 2020 (MOI) Commissioner for Trade and Commerce Mr Uche Okafor has commended the past Executive Committee of Electrical Dealers Association, Obosi for outstanding performance while in office.
In a speech during inauguration of the new Caretaker Committee of the Association at Ekwueme Square, Awka, Mr Okafor thanked the outgoing chairman, Mr Peter Ikechukwu Obi for leading the association well.
The commissioner noted that Mr Obi led the association for a good number of years without any problems, or impeachment attempt from members.
According to him, it is on record that Mr Obi withdrew and handled all cases concerning the association from court, thereby sustaining peace and progress in the body.
Secretary Board of Trustee (BoT) of the association, Mr Okwuchukwu Adibe described the process in setting up the new caretaker committee as democratic.
He also praised the outgoing chairman for transparent leadership, prudent management of finance and wisdom exerted on critical issues.
Mr Adibe observed that with not less than 30 cases in court, they had wasted a staggering amount of money from the association that was redeemed during the tenure of the past executive.
He, then, called on the new Committee to live up to expectations pledging that the BoT, stakeholders and patrons would give them maximum support.
The committee is made up of 21 members to be chaired by Mr Chinedu Egbuche, while Mr Promise Ude will act as Secretary.
List of other members of the committee will be published by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce in due time. (MOI)
