Awka, Jan. 17, 2020 (MOI) Bishop of Jalingo Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Foreman Nedison has enjoined clergy men and their spouses to always shun bad company.

Bishop Nedison said this at the 2020 Awka Diocesan Clergy and Wives Retreat held at Mount Zion International Retreat/Resource Centre Kamali Layout, Awka.

He admonished the congregation of Clergy and their wives to completely avoid wrong company or association.

``Who accompanies you, determines who you are. People are destroyed by the company they keep.

``Be careful in the way you receive counsel from people; they are those that will expose you when you fall,’’ he said.

He urged the congregation to love everybody but relate selectively with people of the same vision with them.

``Work with people that are enthusiastic in the pursuit of the things of God.

``Anybody that is not walking toward your direction does not deserve your association.

``Friendship is by choice, not by force. Bad company influences negatively and affects ones decisions,’’ he said.

Bishop Nedison maintained that it was important to walk in line with the word of God and avoid anything contrary to it.

``The word of God is a mirror of life that transforms mindsets and encourages them for self examination on daily basis.

``Be committed to self examination as no one has the capacity to know what you have in your heart except you,’’ he said.

The Bishop urged the congregation to study the word of God daily to know the mind of God.

According to him the ministry of the clergy and wife is a peculiar ministry and cautioned them not to be involved in anything that will mar their ministries. (MOI)
