Awka, Feb. 12, 2019 (MOI) Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education Awka, Mr Linus Nwabueze Nwankwo says his ministry is set for the 2017 promotion interview for staff due for elevation.
Mr Nwankwo said this during interview with newsmen at his Jerome Udoji Secretariat office, Awka.
He said he had shortlisted names of all those qualified for 2017 promotion interview.
According to him, we are already on it and have agreed on dates for junior and senior promotion exercises that the Head of Service, Civil Service Commission had directed us to commence.
Mr Nwankwo said that the promotion interview for junior staff would take place on Feb. 21 while those of senior staff would hold on Feb. 28.
He added that those qualified for the promotion would be those that had stayed the minimum number of years to advance to the next grade level.
``That is, two years for GL 01-06, three for GL 07-14 and four for GL 15 and above; these are categories of staff that are due for advancement if they do not have disciplinary cases against them.’’
Nwankwo pledged that his ministry would make the exercise fast and easy for workers stressing that they commenced early preparation because of the large nature of the ministry.
Mr Nwankwo noted that no fewer than 300 junior and senior staff cadre would be participating in the exercise.
``Promotion is a thing of joy for every staff that is due for elevation; it is a morale booster and an encouragement.
``It makes a worker to raise his performance level and also makes one to feel that the government they are serving is conscious of their welfare.’’
The permanent-Secretary, however, urged the participants to get themselves prepared by being conversant with current happenings in the country.
``Indeed, most questions will be based on their
duties in the office,’’ he added. (MOI)
