ARMY CHIEF HAILS TROOPS FOR STEMMING HERDSMEN/FARMERS CLASH IN SOUTH EAST

Onitsha, Oct. 10, 2017 -- The Commander, Nigerian Army Signals Corps, Maj.-Gen. C.T. Olukoju has hailed a detachment of the force participating in Python Dance 11, for averting farmers and herdsmen clash in the south east.
Gen. Olukoju and representative of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Brig.-Gen. M.A. Sanusi visited the troops on Oct. 7 and Oc. 8 at their operational locations.
He also commended them for successes recorded so far in areas of stemming cultism, armed robbery as well as recovery of arms and ammunition.
Addressing the troops at FOB Orji River, Gen. Olukoja noted their commitment and sacrifices to the nation.
He enjoined them to strictly adhere to the Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct given to them.
According to the release signed by the Deputy Director Public Relations 82 Division, Col. Sagir Musa the top officers first visited Sector 3, (82 Division Garrison Area of Responsibility), where they were briefed.
The Commander of the Garrison, Brig.-Gen. L.A Adegboye carried out the briefing of the visitors on the ongoing exercise.
The release noted that the officers were thereafter conducted round field locations, where sector 3 troops were deployed.
The areas include Enugu-Abakaliki, Enugu-Okigwe and Enugu Obolafor/Nsukka checkpoints.
Others are the Forward Operating bases at Orji River and Oba axis in Enugu and Anambra states respectively.
