By John Ndu :
Awka, April 7, 2020 (MOI) Following `Work-from-Home’ order by the Anambra State Governments as part of measures to fight Coronavirus pandemic, Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Uche Okafor has condemned influx of youths at pubs.
The pubs, otherwise known as `beer parlours’’ appear to be a beehive of activities, where people gather to unwind.
Mr Okafor explained that the essence of restricting movement was to avoid spread of COVID-19, stressing that this current behaviour could rather aid the spread.
The speaker said this while at a news briefing in Awka, in continuation of sensitisation of the public on the need to heed to Government directives.
Okafor said it was not for youths to fill the streets or pubs, but to assist by staying indoors until the crisis would have been over.
He pointed that the state government had initiated various measures to cushion the effects of the present COVID-19 pandemic. (MOI)
