Awka., April 25, 2018 -- The Anambra state Head
of service, Barrister Harry Uduh has identified self employment and
entrepreneurship as critical to the development of Nigeria.
In his message to this year’s workers
day celebration, Barrister Uduh stressed the need for Nigeria to key into the
concepts for more enhanced nation’s gross Domestic product.
“Since government lacks the capacity to
employ a large number of unemployed employable people, emphasis on self
employment is the way to go,” Uduh said.
He however advocated an enhanced salary
package for all workers across the federation since their take home pay is a
far cry from being sustainable.
For Anambra State, Uduh noted that Governor
Willie Obiano has remained worker friendly and has already made a promise to
increase workers salaries but has decided to wait for the pronouncement of the
federal government on a national minimum wage before acting.
He further announced that
other administrative issues concerning workers welfare were being handled by
the committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke.
