ANAMBRA HEALTH MINISTRY HOLDS CRUCIAL TB/BURILI ULCER REVIEW MEETING

Awka, Nov. 6, 2019 (MOI) Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Health, Dr John Ndibe, has applauded Public Health Department for organising Tuberculosis (TB)/Burili Ulcer.
Dr Ndibe noted that this was part of last quarter review meeting held at King David Hotel, Awka.
He praised efforts of all participants at ensuring that they collate and analyse data effectively.
Dr Ndibe urged them to participate fully in the meeting and make contributions that would help to improve health of Ndi Anambra.
Programme Officer, TB/Burili Ulcer, Dr Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu observed that review meetings were held quarterly to enable TB officers to give account of their jobs.
``This is the period that we gather to collate and analyse results of what we have done within the quarter.
``We come together to look at it, know how far we have gone, look at our challenges and where we are to improve upon.
``The Global Fund is the `Principal Funder’ of this TB/Burili Ulcer programme in the state,'' Chukwulobelu affirmed.
He added that in world ranking, ``Nigeria is placed in the 6th position of people living with TB and Burili’’.
``It is bad that in every 13 persons there is one with TB.
``It has become a concern that every state including Anambra will have it as priority to proffer solutions by sensitising and educating the masses on ways to eliminate the diseases.’’
The meeting was attended by Local Government TB and Leprosy (TBL) Supervisors, German Leprosy Officials, WHO Members, Association of Reproductive and Family Health Representatives, Caritas and other partners. (MOI)
