ANAMBRA HEALTH CENTRE UPGRADED TO GENERAL HOSPITAL

Awka, Jan. 10, 2019 (MOI) Anambra State Government has upgraded Comprehensive Health Centre, Nawgu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the State to a General Hospital.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Akabuike, made the announcement during the inauguration of the community’s renovated Comprehensive Health Centre.
While extending government appreciation over the facelift given to the hospital, he praised the sponsors of the project, Mr and Mrs Jerome Nwokike, who are indigenes of the town.
He commended the family for their zeal in undertaking the renovation and urged them to continue in their effort to see that residents of the community enjoy quality healthcare services.
He assured that the hospital would be fully equipped, more nurses employed, and posting of a Resident Doctor, who would attend to the health needs of people.
The commissioner urged residents of the community to enrol vulnerable groups, who could not settle hospital bills into the State Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to access affordable Medicare.
The Traditional Ruler of the community, Igwe George Okaa-Onwuogu, thanked Gov. Willie Obiano if Anambra for the giant developmental strides in the state.
He appealed to the government to aid the hospital in saving lives thereby making it useful to the community.
In their different remarks, the President-General of the community, Mr Innocent Ikechebelu, and the philanthropist, Dr Jerome Nwokike, pleaded with government to provide the needed equipment and personnel
This they noted would enable the facility to
function as a General Hospital and requested that the new hospital be made a
