Awka, Jan. 9, 2019 (MOI) The Anambra State Government has congratulated an indigene of Obosi, 2nd Lt. Ugochukwu E Nwama, who recently graduated as the best student at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), 2018.

A statement signed by the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C Don Adinuba described Nwama as a special breed of soldier, with an emerging character of an ``officer and a gentleman’’.

According to him Nwama represents that breed of future young Anambra personality that is worthy of emulation. ``He will go places in no distant time’’.

An indigene of Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area (LGA), 2nd Lt. Nwama emerged as the Academy Cadet Adjutant (ACA).

According to records from the institution, Nwama not only emerged the best in his department but as well the overall best in the entire force – Army, Air Force and Navy, in the final year of his training at the academy.


The ACA, according to military sources, is the most senior/powerful cadet, and more or less the de facto administrator of his set in the academy.

He oversees all the affairs of his (cadet) set and liaises with the military authorities in the academy on their behalf.

The young officer was presented with the prestigious and coveted Golden Sword award, to mark his achievement at the concluded passing-out Parade in Kaduna.

The young man won everything there was for him to win including the `Sword of Honour’ (NDA’s highest accolade); the Indian Shield and the Best Graduating Student.

He was so outstanding his statue was unveiled to perpetuate the memory of his sheer brilliance, focus, hard work and exceptional life of discipline.

Recently, Gov. Obiano received some five out of six constables that won the most prizes at their passing out from a Police College. (MOI)
