2020 Flooding: We’re doing our best to get ready -- Umudara Clan Head
By Chinemelu Okafor :
Ihiala, March 23, 2020 (MOI) Clan Head, Umudara Community in Ihiala, Mr Zephaniah Chukwuka, says his community is doing its best to tackle any flood disasters this year.
Chukwuka, also known as Ogbuehi XIX, said this at his Obi, while being interviewed by newsmen.
Umudara-Ihiala and Isi eke Okija are communities most-prone to flood disasters, in Ihiala Local Government Area (LGA).
According to him, the communities have been tackling flood waters, by creating more deep drainage facilities as well as blocking some affected areas.
He said that they always strive to sensitise their people on safety measures to take whenever rainy season would be approaching, so that they could know what to do in event of a disaster as a result of flooding.
He urged government to always come to their aid, especially because they had lost too much to flooding in the past.
``Although the community is trying its best to prepare against menace, we still need more help from state government.
``Government needs to build standard drainage systems and roads for the community,’’ he said. (MOI)
