Nsofor Adaobi Cynthia : Anambra State Governor, Dr Willie Obiano has called on the Federal Government to look more inwardly on the state of federal works going on in the state so as to give the state a facelift.
Gov Obiano made the call while receiving delegates from the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Abuja, who came to inspect the level of federal projects within the state.
Speaking during the visit, Gov Obiano represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, encouraged the delegates to visit the ongoing federal projects and to ascertain the extent of the work done so far.
He noted that the federal Government is owing the state about fifty billion naira on federal projects being done by the state Government and hoped that the money if realized, would be used for other pressing projects in the state.
Dr. Okeke went further to state that the skill acquisition center in the state should be given a boost so as to help curb unemployment among the teeming youths.
Responding, the leader of the delegation Sen. Udo Ndoma and the representative of the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Mrs Ann Nzegwu stated that they were sent to inspect some of the ongoing federal projects in Anambra and should be in the state for the next three days.
Mrs Nzegwu emphasized that they have about eleven federal projects to look at which includes; Education projects to inspect Nnamdi Azikiwe University and Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Health project to inspect Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Metallurgical Training Institute, Onitsha, Solid minerals. Science and Technology projects among others.
