By Chikaodili E Obinwa
Awka July 5, 2018 (MOI) Anambra State Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy Commissioner, Bonaventure Enemali has called on youths to explore their creative abilities in order to build sustainable future for themselves.
Enemali made the call during an interactive lecture with students of Paul University, Awka.
``I call on you to explore your creative abilities in order to create that future that you desire.
``The current trend of unemployment can only be tackled with a conscious and creative mindset, targeted at solving societal problems and day to day needs of man,’’ Enemali said.
Speaking on the topic: ``Entrepreneurship Education and Value Reorientation,’’ the commissioner addressed some of the critical problems facing young people such as unemployment.
``I urge you to create jobs for yourselves rather than moving about the street looking for work.
``I want you all to key into the ongoing programmes like the `Digiprenuer’ programme, organised by Mr Ifeanyi Aniagoh, (SSA on youth empowerment), the Young authors conference and the CBN programme, aimed at bringing entrepreneurship education to the youth.
``The programme has been ongoing at the South East Entrepreneurship Development Centre (SEEDC) and other platforms that can help you to live above poverty that is ravaging the Nigerian youths,’’ Enemali said.
The commissioner noted that Anambra youths owe Gov. Willie Obiano accolades for opportunities provided them via the 70 per cent quota accorded them in his administration.
The SSA on Youth Empowerment and Digital Entrepreneurship, Ifeanyi Aniagoh urged students to be problem solvers.
``It is only in so doing that, you can be emancipated from your present level and transcend to higher level. When a man thinks of solving problems, money submits to him,’’ Aniagoh said.
The Senior Special Assistant on Youth Creativity, Nollywood and Entertainment Industry, Mr Bob-Manuel Udokwu, enjoined the students to utilise the opportunity to build their future.
``This is a privilege that I did not enjoy in my days as a student.
``Gov. Obiano created this ministry and appointed a commissioner tailor-fitted to address your plight. So, you should appreciate the governor for this.
``I urge you all to get your PVC and vote in leaders of your choice at the 2019 General Elections,’’ Udokwu said
The Permanent Secretary for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Mrs Steph Keri Uzor, urged the students to ``identify their passion and fuel it’’.
``Like the Chinese bamboo tree and skyscrapers whose roots and foundations take time to develop, I urge you to horn your skills and fuel your passion,’’ Uzor stressed.
