NO GOING BACK ON DEMOLITION OF ILLEGAL STRUCTURES -- OKAFOR

Awka, May 18, 2018 (MOI) Anambra State Commissioner for Road, Rail and Water Transportation, Mr Uchenna Okafor has affirmed that government will continue to demolish illegal structures across the state.
Okafor said this on May 17 during interactive session with the media in his office at Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
He noted that before the commencement of the demolition exercise, adequate notice was given via announcements aired by Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment and in some Churches in the state.
The commissioner noted that the structures demolished so far were those sited where they ought not to be as well as those mounted on water channels.
``They will all be removed.’’
He observed that illegal structures contribute to presence of traffic gridlocks in some major routes in the state because.
``It also helps to encourage roadside trading.’’
