Obiano has commitment toward improved wellbeing of Ndi Anambra

Awka, June 13, 2018 (MOI) Anambra has a commitment toward improving the well-being of Ndi Anambra in all its ramifications, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C Don Adinuba said in Awka.

Adinuba who was responding to an address by a non-governmental organisation, ``Our Mumu Don Do Movement’’ led by Ndubuisi Anaenugwu, who paid him a courtesy call at his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

The commissioner used the opportunity of the visit to stress that ``Anambra state is the safest state in the country because the governor has been using his security votes support security initiative in the state.

He (Obiano) commenced his administration by promoting safety, which ``invariably helps to attract would-be investors into the state’’.

``Even though Anambra is not yet an oil producing state, the state earns a fraction of what the oil producing states are earning, yet the government has promoted safety in order attract its citizens back to the state.

``In the process, many people are now trooping back in their numbers to try to invest in the state. We are also using the opportunity to woo big time investors to come into Anambra.

According to the commissioner, Government under Obiano, then launched what it calls Akuluo Uno Business Concept, by appealing to sentiments of Ndi Anambra in The Diaspora to deploy their funds home toward start off of businesses that can also help to curtail unemployment.  

The commissioner announced that soon, Anambra state would have one of the most sophisticated orthopaedic hospitals in the entire Africa, to be situated at Orumba North LGA.

``What we are doing today is to work for the people, because when you are working for the people, the result will be evident,’’ Adinuba said.

He commended `Our Mumu Don Do Movement’, saying that the state government would partner with them to correct some ills in the society.

The commissioner described the founder of the Movement, Mr Charles Oputa, aka `Charlie Boy’ as a very successful entrepreneur, social crusader and Human Rights Activist with passion for justice and dignity for the human race.

Earlier, Coordinator of the Movement Mr Anaenugwu said that Anambra State Chapter of the Movement was inaugurated on May 17 in Awka.

He added that they had since resolved to partner with the state government in educating our people on certain issues being taken for granted, such as acquisition of Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC).

``Since no one is perfect, the Movement will criticise government, but positively to see that sanity is maintained in the state.

``Since we are not politicians, we will not hesitate to point out wrongs even the Government will not like it. Ours is a commitment toward ensuring that the people are fairly treated at all times.’’

In a vote of thanks, an official of the Movement, Mr Chiedu Asuzu commended Anambra government for its giant development strides, saying, ``Our Mumu Don Do’ will help to channel the will and aspirations of Ndi Anambra toward the government. (MOI)
