Awka, April 25, 2018 -- The Commissioner, Ministry of Indigenous Artwork, Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Sally Mbanefo has said she will use Arts in bringing the South East and South West together to form an art club noting that creativity brings unity.

Mrs Mbanefo said this during the 2018 International Sculpture Day celebration in Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka which was organized by the President and Founder of Awka Guild of Sculptors, Prof. Cliff Nwanna, a Professor of Fine and applied Arts UNIZIK.

The Commissioner while addressing the participants said that the celebration is an avenue to discover and harvest young talented artists noting that Anambra state has a lot of them to be discovered.

She, however, said she is determined to discover young talents, encourage them through empowerment and appealed to the University Authority to join hands with the state government to support and encourage the young talents.

The Managing Director and Editor in Chief of the Anambra Newspaper and Printing Corporation (ANPC), Sir Chuka Nnabuife said the celebration been recognized by United Nations points that Sculpture conserves societal waste.

He added that Sculpture creates an interaction between Man and his society which also gives landmarks to the society.

Mr Nnabuife encouraged the participants which comprises Undergraduates, Secondary School students and other artists to make the world know that  there is dignity in labour which is what Sculpture represents.
