Introduction, Vision, Mission & Strategy
In the area of culture and tourism, emphasis and greater attention have been paid to the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Ndi Anambra in the last two years. The introduction of a cultural heritage festival which has now become an annual event in the state, regular hosting of children’s cultural carnival, participation in competitive carnivals such as Abuja Cultural Carnival, National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) among others, are some of the cultural activities that have accentuated the state government’s effort towards the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Ndi Anambra. Also, the remembrance of Ndi lgbo who died during the Nigerian civil war aptly tagged Ozoemezina and which was spearheaded by the state government has been hailed by many as an icon event.
Greater attention has also been paid to the development of the tourism industry in Anambra State with the hosting of seminars and workshops in collaboration with the National Tourism Development Corporation and the signing of memorandum of understanding with local and international development partners towards the development of tourists sites in the state particularly the Ogbunike cave, Ogba Ukwu cave and Water Falls in Ajalli, the lgbo Ukwu Museum and Agulu lake.
