Anambra to take possession of 324 transformers

Awka, Nov. 10, 2017 -- Anambra State Government is to take delivery of 324 transformers to be distributed to industries in the state to improve electricity supply to the industrial area of the state.
This will invariably improve the productivity of the industries located within their zone.
The first phase of 150 transformers expected to arrive in the state soon, would be installed at most strategic positions across the state, particularly at Nnewi North and South.
Gov. Obiano said this while receiving a delegation from Nnewi at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
The delegation was made up of persons, holding democratically elected positions in Nnewi and others recognised as leaders of high repute and of uncommon community influence.
They include some selected Nnewi-based stakeholders as – a former Nigeria Ambassador to Spain, Lady Bianca Ojukwu, the former Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba, a businessman, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah.
The governor explained that all the power generation arrangements were geared toward satisfying the needs of the industrial city, to boost commercial production.
Gov. Obiano said that his administration had finalised plans to dualise Nnewi road in his second term to give it befitting prode of place in the state.
``Though the dualisation of the road will affect some buildings, but I have made arrangements to compensate affected individuals. Our plan is to transform the state and give it a pride of place.
``We will achieve this by replicating what we did in Awka, by introducing Nnewi Development Authority to modernise the city with ultra modern facilities," Obiano said.
He said he had intervened over several challenges in Nnewi, including reversing, the Nkwo Triangle Market, Nnewi, and in the process averted crisis that could have emanated as a result of a land dispute.
Dame Etiaba re-stated the resolve of Nnewi people to deliver Obiano during the Nov. 18 election.
Etiaba adds: ``Gov. Obiano is a man of integrity, sincere and visionary, who has imprinted his indelible marks in the governance of the state within his 3-year administration’’.
Dr Ubah confirmed that supporting Obiano was a decision of stakeholders in Nnewi, assuring, that they would not relent in ensuring that his second term would be a reality.
Other delegate, Dr Benson Aghazu noted that the decision to support him was for attracting development to all areas of the state in an atmosphere of peace and stability.
``Our great industrial metropolis will benefit from the second 33KV power transmission line that Obiano Government has installed from Obosi to Nnewi.
``This has doubled the power supply available for industrial, commercial as well as home consumption," Aghazu explained. ##
