GOVT RE-ASSURES CONTRACTORS OF ADEQUATE SECURITY

Umueze Anam (Anambra West), April 30, 2018 -- Niger CAT Construction Company has resumed work on the ongoing Umueze-Oroma-Umuem/Ibaji road after the one of their workers was kidnapped.
The staff was released after series of appeals and assurance of adequate security by Anambra State Government through the Anambra West Local Government Chairman, Mr Tony Collins Nwabunwanne.
Mr Nwabunwanne, who visited the site re-assured the workers of their security, stating that he had completed arrangements with a indigenous security personnel (vigilance group).
``By (today) Monday, April 30, (a vigilance group) will join forces with security personnel attached to your company so as to ensure effective security of the workers and your equipment,’’ he added.
While interacting with the chairman, one of the senior expatriate engineers, assured of their readiness to face the work, especially the Aribo Bridge.
``Work has fully commenced and we can get this bridge (Aribo) done over the next 10 days,’’ the engineer re-assured.
While commending the workers, the chairman stressed that the area (Aribo), where work was currently ongoing was important to Ndi Anambra West, noting that once completed the road would be accessible all season.
He, then, appealed to people of Anambra West to cooperate with the workers handling the project for smooth completion.He, also urged them to be more security-conscious, and not hesitate to give information whenever they suspected hoodlums or any criminal acts in the locality, especially on the road.
