ANAMBRA WEST LGA BOSS DONATES DRUGS TO HEALTH CENTRES

Umueze Anam (Anambra West LGA), Dec. 24, 2018 (MOI) The Transition Committee Chairman, Anambra West Local Government Area (LGA), Mr Sylvester Orji Okafor has distributed drugs to primary healthcare centres in the council area.
Mr Okafor while handing over the drugs said it was necessary to create awareness in communities for people to take precautionary measures against outbreak of diseases such as cholera.
He noted that health workers could not embark on house to house medical services, urging indigenes to access the drugs at various health centres to avert cases of vomiting and stooling.
The council boss enjoined the people to ensure that they boil and filter their drinking water and always keep their environment clean.
Receiving the drugs on behalf of the LGA, the Head of the administration, Mr Jeff Modeme thanked the chairman for the gesture, pledging that they would be distributed appropriately.
Meanwhile, the State Ministry of Health visited the council and donated some drugs as well.
The health team led by Dr Chijioke Obuagha said that it was important to sensitise people on accessing nearby health centres on instances of any health challenges instead of embarking on self-medications.
He appealed to the Traditional Rulers and President-Generals to ensure that they report any health challenging outbreak to the appropriate authority to enable them have adequate medical care. (MOI)
