Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has presented a Certificate of Recognition to the newly elected traditional ruler of Ogidi community in Idemili North LGA  of the state, HRH Igwe Alexander Uzo Onyido.

Igwe Onyido is a renowned Pharmacist and Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Alben Healthcare Industies Limited, a subsidiary of PAL Pharmaceuticals, Kano.

His election has thus brought to an end the age-long Chieftaincy tussle in the community which sparked off before and after the reign of Igwe Walter Amobi who joined his ancestors 19 years ago and left the throne vacant since then.

Onyido’s emergence has also brought to an end the claims being laid by the Amobi family that the Igweship stool was hereditary and as such must be rotating within the family.

Presenting the certificate, Governor Obiano said the election was in line with the stipulated laws of Igbo land.

According to the Governor ” the presentation is in accordance with the traditional rulers Act of 1981, which made fully satisfied that you HRM, Igwe Alexander Uzo Onyido of Ogidi community in Idemili North Local Government Area, has been duly elected and presented to me by the people of the said community, town. In accordance with the customary law and usages of the town, community and in provisions of section 4, 5, 6 of the traditional law of 1981 do hereby satisfied that you had been accordingly been recognized by me as the traditional head of Ogidi. “

The Governor urged him to maintain a peaceful co-existence among the people of the community, saying that the throne was a divine intervention to ameliorate the sufferings of indigent people in the community.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Greg Obi, stated that Ogidi  community had a long historic culture and tradition that required absolute adherence.

Chief Obi noted that the painstaking election went into consideration the court ruling and proper disposal of the will of the people, adding that the election was adjudged free and fair.

The Commissioner charged the new traditional ruler to reconcile with all aggrieved parties and ensure equity and fairness in dispensation of justice.

He however commended Governor Obiano for his administrative doggedness in resolving every outstanding issues in the community, saying his style of governance had enthroned peace in communities in the state.

The traditional ruler of Mbaukwu, HRM, Igwe Peter Anugwu, who also spoke on the occasion charged Igwe Onyido to use his leadership position to further empower the people of the community as he had over 1500 workers in his establishment ,which had added to his efforts in reducing unemployment in the state.

Igwe Anugwu urged the new traditional ruler to uphold the integrity and age long tradition of his community and to always support the present administration as to attract more meaningful development to his community.

In his reaction, the President General of Ogidi, Chief Jideofor Onugbogu observed that the emergence of the traditional ruler has ushered a new dawn in the community, saying it would sustain  the peace the community is currently enjoying.

Expressing his happiness at the turn of events, the new traditional ruler, HRM, Igwe Alexander Uzo Onyido, described his emergence as an end to years of bondage which the community had experienced in the past.

He noted that his administration would bring tangible development and further project Ogidi to global standard.

Igwe Onyido therefore promised to increase the strength of their vote and assured the Governor of their support for his second tenure.

The traditional rule of Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Dr. Cyril Enweze has described 2016 as an excellent year for Anambra State.

Igwe Enweze who spoke to the press in Awka on the impact of the Governor Willie Obiano’s administration in governance, noted with satisfaction, the influx of investments, execution of projects, and empowerment programmes which characterize his administration.

To this and, the royal father called for peace and tranquility to reign in the state and suggested that a delegation of traditional rulers be mandated with the responsibility to visit politicians interested in contesting the 2017 governorship election with a clear message not to overheat the polity in their quest for power.

He reasoned that investors will not invest in a state where there is anarchy, and as such, the positive development impact put in place by the Obiano administration should not be jeopardized by political rivalries, tension, and struggle for power.

Dr. Enweze noted that the understanding that each senatorial zone should govern the state for eight years before handing over to another zone should be respected in the interest of peace.

For his community Umuoji, he stressed that the community has every reason to be happy with the present administration for enjoying light, and a transformer courtesy of the state government, as well as the security of lives and property, the twenty million naira choose your projects scheme, and other projects.

Idemili North L.G.A is presently experiencing a new dawn as a functional running water and electricity have been restored in the secretariat after many years back.

The new era started immediately the newly appointed transition Chairman of the area, Barrister Ralph Asa Nnabuife resumed duty.

Barrister Nnabuife who also serviced the giant generating set and repaired a number of structures in the area stressed that such restriction and repairs would facilitate the smooth running of the affairs of the Local government.

The staff of the Local Government as well as passersby praised the chairman and the Executive Governor of Anambra State for the latest development.

Workers of Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra state had few days ago at their periodic inter denominational prayer session turned into prayer warriors in solidarity to Gov. Willie Obiano’s second tenure bid and the reappointment of Barr: Ralph Nnabuife as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Council.

During the prayer session that was presided over by three pentecostal bishops, Bishop (Dr.) Ben Obiagwuna of PHAD Gospel Church International Nkpor, Bishop Mike U.  Chukwudum of the Rock of Global Mission, Bishop Victor Echesimu of Word of God Mission and the Chairman, Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Apostle Ifeanyi Obi. The clerics enjoyed the workers to always be of good behaviour and display discipline in their work place.

According to them; “whoever that is made a leader is approved by God and should be obeyed for the betterment of the society and your  duty as a subject is to simply pray fervently for him or her.

“Governor Willie Obiano is doing wonderfully well now in Anambra state especially on security, agriculture, payment of workers’ salaries among others and should be allowed to go for second tenure to enable him continue with laudable projects and complete all the projects he embarked upon”, they said.

They commended the governor for the reappointment of Barr. Ralph Nnabuife to once again, head the Idemili North Council, stating that ; “because he did very well in his first tenure in the Council, the Governor found him worthy to come and continue with his achievements, which he did also in his Nkpor community where he served  his people as the Acting Caretaker Committee Chairman in the area.

It would be recalled that Barr. Ralph Nnabuife  had won the best local government chairman in Nigeria, which earned him a car gift.

In his response, Barr. Ralph Nnabuife urged all and sundry to come and support the  governor’s second tenure bid, stating that the governor has been able to improve in all aspects of development across Anambra state.

“Now you can see that Anambra state is exporting vegetables to Europe and you can also see that the governor has excelled in security thereby making the state the most secure state in the country”, the Council boss noted.

Barr. Nnabuife however pledged to use his new appointment to uplift the welfare of both the workers and the people in Idemili North.

Eligible voters who have not obtained their permanent voters cards as well as those who attained eighteen years after the last voters registration exercise in the state have been directed to go to their respective local government areas to register and obtain the cards without further delay.

The Independent National Electoral Commission electoral officer attached to Idemili North Local Government Area Mr. Vincent Oghene gave the directive during a sensitization workshop organised by the electoral body at the Idemili North Local Government Headquarters Ogidi.

Mr. Oghene urged participants at the workshop to pay adequate attention to the teachings of various resource persons as the workshop according to him is on going in all the Seven Hundred and Seventy Four Local Government Councils in the country.

He said that the purpose of the workshop which attracted stakeholders from various communities in Idemili North is to educate and sensitize the populace on the need to register their names as the registration exercise is now a continuous exercise.

in a speech the Divisional Crime Officer Ogidi police station Mr. Fidelis Enshe assured that the police will assist INEC and communities in the area to ensure a hitch free exercise.

The Chairman All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Idemili North Local Government Area Chief Kentus Onwura identified poor planning as the greatest problem confronting INEC in its efforts to conduct a free fair and credible election in the country and called for attained change.

Residents of Ugwagba Obosi layout community in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State stormed the major street in the council area protesting against EEDC over alleged fraudulent billing, lack of prepaid metres and non availability of light.

The community called for massive  transfer of staff of EEDC working at 3, Obodoukwu Street, Ugwuagba layout, Obosi for alleged fraudulent activities and hoarding of prepaid metres.

The protesting residents blocked the Ezeiweka road and other streets in the area  chanting anti- EEDC management songs with various placards against the management disrupting vehicular movement for over two hours.

Addressing newsmen, The President General of the community, Chief Osita Oji, said the residents were tired of EEDC’s exorbitant bills  in the midst  of no power supply and demanded the installation of prepaid metres

The Governor of Anambra state through the state ministry of information and communication strategy has commenced the distribution of National Light newspaper to the people of the state .

The distribution which started two weeks ago was aimed at carrying Ndi Anambra along the paths of lastest information in the state.

In Idemili North the transition chairman of the council Hon (Barr.) Ralph Nnabuife Asha expressed joy at Obiano’s governance, saying the Governor is doing well and love to carry his people along through this free newspaper circulation.

Other recipients who could not hide their joy stated that this is the first time in the history of Anambra that newspapers are given to them without a dime.

Mrs Christian Obiora one of the market woman said the governor has chosen this medium to ensure that Ndi Anambra were well informed.

Efforts to expand the support base of His Excellency, for Willie Obiano among the critical stakeholders of Anambra electorate received a book recently with the inauguration of three new market chapters of Willie Obiano Support Group.

The three major market chapter Executives inaugurated under the Electrical Market International Dealers, Old motor spare parts (mgbuka) / Ugwuagba and Awada Traders Union, all in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Council.

Performing the ceremony, the Chairman of Willie Obiano Support Group (WOSG) for Jude Okechukwu Emecheta reminded the new members and all traders that membership into the Gov. Willie Obiano grassroot support group, was open for all eligible voters and well wishers of Gov. Willie Obiano in Anambra State. He charged everyone yet to be registered eligible voters from 18 years and above or any who recently relocated from another state or any who has misplaced his/her permanent voters card, to endevour to register at the INEC office at the local government where he intends to vote.

The Willie Obiano Support Group National Chairman further urged the traders to encourage their family members, workers and dependents who fall into any of the eligible categories to register in order to exercise their franchise in the forth coming gubernatorial election in the state.

In their separate addresses, the newly inaugurated leaders of the three markets promised total commitment in efforts to mobilize the vast majority of traders so as to return Gov. Willie Obiano for second term in office.

They expressed appreciation to the government for creating the enabling environment for traders to thrive in their businesses.

Several traders from the three major markets attended the event. The National Chairman of WOSG was accompanied to the event by the National and State Executive members.

Still basking in the euphoria of the victory of Governor Willie Obiano and security operatives especially the police, against criminals in Anambra state, the newly transferred Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr. Mark Ijarafu, warned that those of them who still remain in his area have to leave or meet their water loo.

He sounded the note of warning when he visited the Idemili North Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Ralph Nnabuife Asha in his office at Ogidi to solicit for his support and cooperation in flushing out the criminals.

According to him, “we will look at the situation on the ground in Idemili and take it as a challenge and know how to tackle it, we are trying to reinvigorate our patrol system. We will look at the structure put on ground and review it to be in tandem with the situation found on the ground”.

“Ogidi has a wider jurisdiction than Onitsha Central Police Division where I came from so I intend to work with the vigilance group in the respective 10 communities that make up the Division to see that we police the area effectively but it does not mean we are going to leave the Job for them” he assured.

In his response, the council chairman, Chief Nnabuife, pledged to give him the necessary support adding that Governor Willie Obiano has already done the magic by flushing out criminals out of the state.

Traders in the three Local Council Area of Anambra State Idemili North, Idemili South and Oyi under the aegis of Idemili Market Traders Association, IMATA, yesterday at Ogidi, Idemili North council headquarters, endorsed Governor Willie Obiano for second tenure even as it condemned the statement credited to some All Progress Congress, APC, members in Igbo land that APC would take over Anambra state come November 18 2017.

The traders, who spoke through their President General, Chief Chuma Elucharu, made the endorsement when they paid a courtesy call on the chairman of the caretaker committee of the council, Chief Ralph Nnabuife Asha, who they described as an achiever that won the award (car gift) as the best Local Government Chairman in the country.

According to them the statement is deceitful, uncalled for and an act to distract Governor Willie  Obiano who made the state the safest in the country, pays salaries of workers as and when due, from his good work in the state.

In the words of Elucharu, “there is no vacancy at Government House Awka, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, former Governor Jim Nwobodo of the then Anambra state and Senator Chris Ngige who is the Minister of labour and Employment should leave Anambra state alone and face their responsibilities”.

“We will disgrace them if they come to Anambra state as APC whistle blowers because our able Governor Willie Obiano is doing us well .

I have not seen N20 million community project established in all the 179 communities in Anambra state before. Again the Governor has offered N8million market development project in each of the markets in the state and is ready to do more”.

“We are going to set up a committee in each market that will be briefing each line in the market to showcase Governor Willie Obiano’s activities in the state with a view to working in concert with the council chairman Chief Nnbuife to ensure victory for Obiano”.

Commending the council chairman Eluchalu said “we are here to assist you in moving the council forward. This visit is unique because you are the only one that  has  been here as council chairman two times, you maintained the first position in a place that is full of educated people”

In his response, Nnabuife commended them for endorsing the Governor for second tenure and urged them to ensure  they involve themselves, friends and families in the ongoing registration of  voters exercise adding that “your voter`s card is your power, go and register now if you have not, to  enable you vote for the candidate of your choice. You cannot be saying you endorse Obiano when you don’t have your card” he stated.

IMG_20170522_133424Idemili  North Traffic Decongestion Authority ( I. N. T. D. A) Ogidi zone has commended operation road decongestion along some busy roads in Idemili North Local Government Area.

The aggressive  drive by the Commandant  General, Mr Gilbert  Okoye and some officers to the New Parts and Nkpor  Main  Market by pass, brought  to a halt the usual traffic congestion experienced by motorists under the bridge.

Mr Okoye advised the hawkers, traders, keke drivers,motorcyclists and motorist to desist from trading and parking their  vehicles along  the roads as they are  the major causes of some road accidents and traffic  congestion in the area.

During the operation, some vehicles  were  impounded and motorcycles seized from  their  owners who violated  the law.

11.CHIDOKA PERFECTS PLANS TO RESTORE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY TO OBOSI

The former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka has risen to the challenge of power outage ravaging his community Obosi in Idemili North council area of the state.

It will be recalled that on the 12th of April 2017, officials of the EEDC stormed Obosi and disconnected electricity supply from the community over alleged non- payment of electricity bills amounting to N800 million.

However, Chidoka who was informed of this ugly situation, quickly entered into an agreement with EEDC to restore power to the area while giving the assurance that the EEDC personnel would be protected during their stay in Obosi.

To this end, the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka (the third) is expected to hold a town hall meeting with his people to ensure the safety of the EEDC personnel.
