01. Gov Obiano commissions 2.4km Ozubulu road.
By John Ndu : Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has commissioned a 2.4km road in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo local government area of the state.
The road with a bridge was named after Aloysius Ikegwuonu, the philanthropist in Ozubulu who constructed the road.
Commissioning the road, the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano said it was in line with his administrative policy of “Aku luo uno ” geared towards developing every corner of the state.
Governor Obiano said government may not embark on capital projects simultaneously in the state due to the present economic situation.
The governor while expressing gratitude, urged meaningful individuals in the state to emulate such and replicate the attraction of projects for the betterment of the state, which in turn would create massive employment for the youths.
On his part, the philanthropist, Chief Aloysius Ikegwuonu, disclosed that he was motivated by the excellent policies and unprecedented vision of Governor Obiano in developing the state.
Mr Ikegwuonu urged the people to always support the present administration for a better Anambra, noting that the road would add to the number of constructed roads in the state.
02 LEAGUE OF ANAMBRA PROFESSIONALS TAKES QUIZ TO EKWUSIGO L.G.A.

The league of Anambra professionals in collaboration with Anambra State Ministry of Education Awka organized a quiz competition for the entire ss2 students in English, Mathematics, Igbo and ICT in all the Local Government in Anambra State.
At Ekwusigo Local Government, the quiz took place at Seat of Wisdom Secondary School Ozubulu. Each school sent two representatives. Professor C. U Ezigbo addressing the student before the exam, said the aim of the quiz includes;
- To challenge privileged Ndi Anambra to invest in education.
- To inculcate positively value system on Ndi Anambra.
- To inspire the youth to yearn for highest Educational attainment.
Mrs. Stella Uzokwu Nnewi Education Zonal Officer said that the quiz is to sharpen the brain of students, that after the Local Government level, the best three will represent the Zone, after which the best again will represent the zone in oral television quiz, she then urged the participants from each school to try their best to make their school proud.
At the end of the examination under the supervision of Amaka Igwo representing the AEO of Ekwusigo and Mrs. Adogu Chinelo from Nnewi called out the winning schools.
First position from Santa Maria Secondary School Ozubulu in the person of Miss Ogwu Fransica Chidinma.
Second position from Carol Standard Convent Ichi in the person of Okeke Promise Chinwendu.
While third position goes to Boys Secondary School Oraifite in the person of Nwigbo Onyebuchi.
The Principal of Seat of Wisdom Mr. Nweke N.U congratulated the students and encouraged them to do more, so that Ekwusigo Local Council will emerge first in the forth coming oral quiz and he handed the cash prize to the winners.
03 ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY MOVES TO EVACUATE REFUSE HEAP IN OZUBULU

The Anambra state House of Assembly has called on the Executive arm of govt to evacuate refuse heap at Ugwuorie Market – St Michael’s Church junction Ozubulu in Ekwusigo council area of the state.
The House passed the resolution through a motion sponsored by the member representing Ekwusigo constituency, Mr Onyebuchi Offor and 16 others during the plenary in Awka.
The lawmaker while citing the relevant section of Anambra state Waste Management Authority 2015, stressed the function of Anambra state Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) to include proper collection and disposal of waste for the overall health benefits of Ndi Anambra.
Mr Onyebuchi Offor observed that the refuse heap at Ugwuorie market Ozubulu has caused many health hazards to his constituents hence the need for the state government through ASWAMA to quickly evacuate it, bearing in mind that the lawmaker had evacuated a similar refuse heap in his constituency that caused him hundreds of thousands of naira.
Supporting the motion, Hon Ikem Uzoezie of Aguata 2 constituency and his Anambra East counterpart, Obinna Emenaka while urging government agency to evacuate the said refuse, also advised Ozubulu residents to be environmentally friendly in dumping refuse at the appropriate quarters.
They also enjoined the Ministry of Environment to address all refuse challenges in the state, as waste management is contained in this year’s budget.
On his part, Barr Kingsley Iruba representing Nnewi South 2 constituency observed that church and markets are not the appropriate place for refuse dump, adding that where it occurs daily should be evacuated everyday as a way of generating money to the state.
The Deputy Speaker Mr. Harford Oseke who presided over the plenary read out the resolution of the House.
